Tutankhamen Exhibition

Your Dorset holidays can offer you so much pleasure, adventure, and learning. You do not even have to go to Egypt just to learn about the mysteries of the pharaohs, pyramids, and riches within the tombs. Just visit the Tutankhamen Exhibition at High West Street in Dorchester, which is not too far from most holiday cottages. Amazingly real recreations of Egypt’s Tutankhamen’s tomb and mummies are on display here.

It is like being in ancient Egypt as you explore the antechamber and the burial chamber. Not only will you be able to see the marvellous Ancient Treasures of Egypt, but also get a chance to hear and smell everything as if it is real. The Tutankhamen Exhibition remains open throughout the year from 9:30 to 5 p.m. However, during the months of November to March, the museum is open only on the weekends. It is also closed on December 24th, 25th and 26th every year.

The Royal Signals Museum

During your Dorset holidays, you can have a unique learning experience at various historic places. If you want to get a chance to break codes, drive a simulator, find the enemy, guide a laser beam, set up a satellite network, and practice Morse code – you can do all of that at The Royal Signals Museum.

Not an ordinary museum, it is filled with wonderful exhibits and offer exciting activities to families and groups of all kind. Accompany your children to the fun trails organized by the museum staffs. The impressive displays of motorcycles, airborne vehicles, dispatch riders and war animals from the ancient eras are really worth taking pictures. You and your family will have a new sense of enrichment and bonding before going back to the holiday cottages.

Jurassic Coast

Leave the holiday cottages early in the morning so you can have enough time exploring the famed Jurassic Coast. It is home to diverse flora, fauna, and wildlife species. You will never find these marvellous creations in urban dwellings. Make sure you have plenty of sunscreen on and a fully charged camera. Stroll around and you will have a fantastic view of dinosaur bones, fossils, rocks and rare artefacts. The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site according to the United Nations. The famous tourist attraction tells you so much about the rich history and heritage of Dorset. Afterwards, explore the nearby sites like the Lulworth Cove, Isle of Portland and Durdle Door. Jurassic Coast is also near the pristine beaches of Weymouth, Swanage, Poole and Lyme Regis. You will surely have a satisfying visit here during your Dorset holidays.
